At 8 p.m., officers were alerted to a report of a stolen vehicle traveling south on Route 1, Captain Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police said. The car suddenly came to a stop at Avenue C and Tijohn Cato, 30, and Samiya Medina, 34 were arrested and taken into custody, Guenther said.
When police searched the vehicle, they discovered a stolen handgun, Guenther said. Medina and Cato were charged with unlawful possession of a stolen handgun in the second degree and receiving stolen property in the third degree, Guenther said. Cato was also hit with an additional possession charge, Guenther said.
